Kristin (Kris) James Matuszewski, age 51, passed away on Friday, October 30, 2026, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. Kris was born on April 18, 1975, to Ron and Diana Matuszewski.

Kris attended Regina Coeli School and graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1993. At Central Catholic, he was a two-year All-City and All-District selection, a Third Team All-Ohio Choice as a senior, and an honorable mention as a junior. He went on to attend Stetson University on a basketball scholarship and finished his basketball career at Oakland University.

In 1999, Kris began his career at the Lucas County Sheriff’s Office. He also coached basketball at many different levels and was able to coach both of his sons throughout their sports careers at Northview High School.

Kris is survived by his sons, Jacob and Jared; his parents, Ron and Diana; and his brother, Jeff. He is also survived by his niece, Lauren (Katie) Sopko; his former wife, Jen; and his best furry friend, Bolt.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at Christ the King Church, with Mass to follow at 1:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2026, from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Sylvania Moose Lodge.

The family would like to express their deep appreciation to Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their care of Kris.
