Kevin Detrick

Kevin Detrick, 56, of Point Place, joined his father and brother in Heaven on August 3 after a brief battle with cancer. He fought hard right up to the end, hoping against hope to meet his first grandchild this winter. But Kevin is at peace now, and those bright blue Irish eyes are smiling down on each of us.Kevin was self-employed for many years as a contractor but also worked for Lifestyles for Ladies Only. He was a member of the Bayview Park Amvets Post #222, the American Legion Pond Post #99 and a member of the former Glass City V.F.W. Post #9445.Kevin was a wonderful father, son and brother, and a dear friend to many. Left to cherish his memory are his children Chad Detrick and BreAnne (Mike) Johnson, mother Lynette Detrick, brother Dennis Detrick, sisters Linda (Mike) Jaegly and Peg Drouillard, as well as countless cousins and numerous nieces and nephews who dearly loved their Uncle Kevin. Also his ex-wife and friend Sharon (Don) Stump and her son “little twerp” Josh Stump, and dear friend Chuck Streight. He was preceded in death by his father John (Jack) Detrick and his brother Joe Detrick.Kevin had a huge heart and would do anything for anyone at anytime. Beneath the tough guy image was a generous man always handing out cookies, doughnuts, candy and roses. He enjoyed many years of bowling, golf and softball. He loved watching his children play sports, even as adults, and never missed a game, including Joshs. His constant care and concern for his kids and mother will be dearly missed.The family thanks the many staff members at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, especially Angelique Hennessey, for the professional and compassionate care they provided for Kevin over the last few weeks.At Kevins request, there will be no funeral. Instead family and friends are asked to join in a celebration of his life on Sunday August 15 from 12-5p at Jeds/Headliners, 4500 N Detroit Ave, Toledo.
