Kenneth Wiggins

Kenneth Lee Wiggins, 97, formerly of Sun City, AZ and Findlay, OH, peacefully entered into eternal life on Sunday, July 24, 2016. He was born on November 29, 1918, in Columbia, PA, one of eight children to Jasper Franklin and Cleo Gertrude (Montgomery) Wiggins. Kenny was a prime example of those belonging to the Greatest Generation, having gone through the Depression, WWII and all the changes that followed. He was hard working, dedicated and proud to be an American. After graduation from Adrian High School in 1936, while working in a power plant, he found the love of his life, Irene Louise Schutte and they were married on December 9, 1941. In time, he was off to war like many others, serving in the US Navy as a Motor Machinist Mate. During his lifetime, Kenny was always involved in sales. The early years found him buying, fixing and selling used cars. He owned and operated Kennys Cycle Shop, in Findlay, OH, before moving to Sun City AZ, in 1978, where he sold real estate until retirement. At that time he and Irene started a chauffeur service transporting folks to and from Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix and various destinations across the country. They loved to travel and spent time in all states, except Alaska until her death in 1992. Several years later he and his 12 year old grandson, Matthew Gensler, spent six weeks traveling through several western states and Canada before reaching Alaska. In 1996 he married Veva Alice (Warner) Damon, a high school friend and they enjoyed 5 years together. Kenny loved to share stories about all of his travels and adventures that he always referred to as his memories. Whether one person, a group of people or an email message, you could always count on an entertaining tale. Health issues forced a move from his beloved Arizona to Toledo, OH, in 2011 to be closer to family. He is survived by brother, Lowell, Peoria, AZ; his four children: Jeanne (Wayne) Stearns, Marysville, OH; Thomas (Karen), Waterville, OH; Robert (Gina), Santee, CA; Mary Gensler, Toledo, OH, along with 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 9 great, great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 20 at 11:00 am at Waterville United Methodist Church, 102 N. Fifth St., Waterville, OH, 43566, with lunch to follow in their Fellowship Hall. Kens remains, along with those of wife Irene, have been interred together in Fairfield Cemetery, Fairfield, MI.
