Kenneth N. Cooper

Kenneth N. Cooper, born April 22, 1928 to an American mother and Canadian father in Harrow, Ontario, Canada, died peacefully in his sleep on April 1, 2023.

He was one of 9 children (6 boys and 3 girls) who in 1945 migrated to the USA and was immediately drafted into the US Army. He served in Korea at the end of World War II with the occupation troops. He was discharged just a few days before the Korean War started and was subjected to recall but deferred due to his college acceptance. Ken has a degree in Accounting and Business Administration from University of Michigan.

He was preceeded in death by his parents; all 8 of his siblings; his wife, Nancy; and daughter, Susan Berg. He is survived by his children, Bruce Cooper, Joelle Johnson (Don), Barbara Hanson, Michael Cooper (Olivia) and Jennifer Mensen; plus 6 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.

Ken worked for Capital International Airlines as a Regional Sales Manager in charge of 4 Midwest States and Ontario, Canada for many years selling incentive travel programs. He has traveled to many places such as Hawaii, Alaska, Africa, Europe, South America, and the Bahamas.

Ken moved to Toledo in 1975 to work for the Toledo Trust Bank as manager of their Travel Department. In 1978, he opened his own Incentive Travel Company and continued promoting incentive groups. Upon retiring in 2000, Ken took a part time job with the Polish Churches on Lagrange Street as their Financial Manager for both St. Hedwig and St. Adalbert Churches. He worked there for 12 years.

Ken enjoyed golf and tennis and belonged to several leagues. He was active in both Kiwanis and the Shriners for many years. For the past 5 years he has volunteered with Mobile Meals of Toledo delivering meals to shut-ins or handicapped individuals.

He is to be cremated next week and has requested that his cremated remains be returned to Canada where most of his family is buried. Any donations can be sent to Mobile Meals, 2200 Jefferson Ave. Toledo, OH 43604.
