Kathleen “Kathy” Joyce (Stemen) Badik, 80 yrs old went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, March 22, 2025, in Oregon, Ohio. Born April 26, 1944, in Toledo, Ohio, to Herbert Stemen and Helen (Knurek) Stemen. Kathy grew up in Perrysburg, Ohio, and truly considered it home.
Kathy really enjoyed working. After graduating high school in 1962, she went to cosmetology school and eventually worked for Mercy St. Vincent’s Hospital for 28 years, in many roles, most notably as a medical transcriptionist until she retired in 1999. At that time, she continued to work 10 more years, traveling around the U.S. as a medical transcriptionist.
She was a member of Christian Fellowship of Toledo and enjoyed spending time with her church family. Her greatest accomplishment was raising her four children on her own, and her greatest joy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She volunteered at many organizations and enjoyed traveling, gardening, knitting, spending time with family and friends and could not pass by any garage sale without stopping.
She is survived by her only living sibling, Margaret “Peggy” Vrooman, and her four children Kenneth (Shawn) Badik, Linda DeVore, Judy (Korey) Robison and Monica “Molly” Badik; grandchildren, Danielle DeVore, Megan (Oliver) Teneyck, Heather (Clayton) White, Victoria Charles, Nicole (Stephen) Davis, Jared Robison and Collin Charles; and great-grandchildren, Annaleese Hakes, Owen and Ethan Teneyck and Ridge White. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Helen Stemen; brothers, Ronald and Robert Stemen, and sister, Marilyn Champnoise.
A celebration of life will be held at Christian Fellowship of Toledo, 6711 Pilliod Rd, Holland, Ohio, on Saturday, April 26, 2025, beginning at 11:00am.
The family would like to thank the Orchard Villa staff for the amazing care they provided for Kathy over the past few years, and for Continuum Care Hospice assisting in making her transition home a peaceful one.
