Katherine E. Schroeder

Katherine E. (Toth) Schroeder, age 77, of Holland, OH passed away on May 13, 2025 at Hospice of NW Ohio in Perrysburg after bravely battling cancer for several years.

Katherine was born on October 25, 1947 to Ernest and Beatrice “Betty” (Winters) Toth. She spent her childhood in Monclova and Maumee, OH and was a graduate of St. Ursula Academy. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in History from Marian College in Indiana and went on to become a Registered Nurse. She spent over 30 years in the field of nursing, many of those years at St. Charles Hospital in Oregon, OH. On January 17, 1981 Katherine married David Schroeder and together they had two children, Elizabeth and Jonathan.

Katherine will be remembered for her compassion, her faith and her lifelong love of learning, as well as her many talents. She was a gifted artist and writer, a fantastic cook and always a tireless advocate for those she loved. She especially loved being a grandma to her beloved granddaughter, Jasmine.

Katherine was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Betty Toth. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, David: daughter, Elizabeth (Mark) Burling: son, Jonathan (Liqiong Chen) Schroeder; granddaughter, Jasmine Flores; sister, Sandra Toth; her nieces, her great-nieces and nephews; her cousins; her fellow Mercy Associates; and many dear friends around the world.

A Celebration of Life for Katherine, officiated by Pastor Kenneth Dantzler, will be held at Our Lady of the Pines Retreat Center, 1250 Tiffin Street, Fremont, OH 43420 on Monday, June 2, 2025 at 11:00 am with a luncheon to follow.
