Karen M. (Eschenburg) Keefer passed away October 30, 2022, at Flower hospital.
To laugh often and much; to win the respect of the intelligent people and the affection of the children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know that one life has breathed easier because you lived here. This is to have succeeded.
Karen was born in Toledo on October 15, 1942, to Erma L. and Robert F. Eschenburg. She graduated from DeVilbiss High School in 1960.
Karen was a Deputy Clerk at Lucas County Clerk of Courts from 1962 to 1968. In 1968 She became Secretary at Former Toledo Goodyear Warehouse where she worked until becoming Self Employed in 1982 until 2003 with Wallpaper Karen.
Karen was a lifelong member of Augsburg Lutheran Church, a Military Support group member at VFW Post 2898, and Harbor View Yacht Club member.
She loved to have a good time at her backyard pool parties, traveling the country, and was always available for a trip to the casino. She also enjoyed playing the organ and entertaining anyone who would listen. As Karen would say “I’ve gone where the drinks are free, and I don’t have to tip the Barmaids”.
Preceded in death by her parents Erma and Robert, brother Doug Eschenburg, sister Joanne McArthur, son in law Kenny Henzler and many much-loved relatives and friends.
Survived by her daughter Vickey Henzler, grandchildren Jaclyn and Michael, her loved great grandchildren Jade, Shawn, and Reagan, sister-in-law Ginger Eschenburg, dear friend Judy Eschenburg, and all the nieces and nephews in Ohio and NC. Also, all the good friends (you know who you are!)
“Whether one believes in religion or not, and whether one believes in rebirth or not, there isn't anyone who doesn't appreciate kindness and compassion” Dalai Lama
The celebration of life will be Friday November 11th 3 pm at VFW Post 2898 3925 W Alexis Rd Toledo OH 43623. Karen asked that memorial contributions be made to Augsburg Lutheran Church or to the charity of donor’s choice.
