Julia "Jill" Hartten

July 10, 1941 — August 8, 2021

On August 8th, 2021, Julia "Jill" Waddell Greve Hartten passed away of natural causes in the loving care of her son, Ian Eric Philip Hartten, hospice, and the Otterbein Perrysburg SeniorLife Neighborhood. Julia was born on July 10, 1941 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Theodore Greve and Anne Louise Waddell Greve of Hyde Park. She was an alumna of The Seven Hills School, Miss Doherty's College Preparatory School for Girls and attended the University of California, Berkeley. She was well-traveled during her younger years and held residences across the country, including New York City, St. John Virgin Islands, Jacksonville, CO, Kona, HI, San Diego, Chicago, and lived most of her adult life in Huron, Ohio. Julia was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) in her 20’s, leading her on the journey to become a dedicated advocate for all people with disabilities. She was committed to increasing awareness of MS, supported anyone struggling with housing and/or medical needs, and she often would spring into action immediately by making numerous phone calls to help someone faced with a housing or medical needs issue. She was a dedicated volunteer for non-profit organizations, including LEAP under Doris Brennan for many years. She founded The MS Campus, a non-profit organization to support communal housing alternatives to nursing homes for people with multiple sclerosis and other disabilities. She is survived by her son, Ian Eric Philip Hartten (Lisa Reichert) of Perrysburg, Ohio; brother, John L. Greve and former husband, Philip Hartten of Naples, Florida. She was preceded in death by siblings, Cherry Ann DiBartolomeo, Neal Greve and Charles Theodore Greve. A Celebration of Life and Open House will be held Thursday, August 19, 2021 in the Wildwood Metropark Manor House, 5100 Central Ave., Toledo from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Miss Doherty’s (The Seven Hills School), Development Office, 5400 Redbank Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45227 or Otterbein Senior Care (https://otterbein.org/donate/#donate).
