Judith “Judy” Eileen Schroder, 82, of Walbridge, passed away peacefully on May 7th, 2023, at St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo. Born in Dundee, MI on November 8th, 1940, to Benjamin and Hazel (Mills) Harrison, Judy was the fifth of six children. After graduating from DeVilbiss High School in 1958, she married Martin Schroder of Wauseon, and they lovingly raised a large family of their own. Together, Judy and Marty enjoyed golfing and traveling across the country in their RV, commemorating their adventures by collecting souvenir spoons and coffee mugs. When they weren’t vacationing on the road, they frequently hosted the fondly remembered “Schroder family campouts” that helped mold the core memories of an entire generation of grandchildren. Judy established a successful 30-year career in banking and retired at the age of 60. After retirement, she relocated to Florida to escape the cold winter months and live out her dreams as a Ya-Ya snowbird, playing cards and laughing amongst the many close friends she kept. When she wasn’t socializing, one could find Judy watching her beloved Detroit Tigers play baseball, whipping around the Florida seaside in her red convertible, or curled up in her favorite chair devouring romance novels (and white wine on ice). Ever the tenacious matriarch to a gaggle of children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, Judy and her boisterous laugh will be missed deeply by the large family she leaves behind.
Judy was preceded in death by her brother, William Harrison, sisters Norma Beaver, Clella Scheibenzuber, and Frances Scheuerman, as well as her loving and devoted husband, Martin Schroder, with whom she shared a 40-year union. She is survived by her brother, Hazen Harrison, children, Mark (Carol) Schroder, Shelley (David) Newton, Todd (Sharon) Schroder, and Marcy Keeler, along with 14 grandchildren and 25 great grands.
In lieu of traditional services, the family will host an intimate memorial luncheon for relatives only.
