Judith Anne DeWeerd, age 67, moved on to a better place on April 3, 2009, surrounded by her loving family. Judith was born in Waukegan, Illinois on November 27, 1941, but spent her childhood in Carrizo Springs and San Antonio, Texas. She moved to Toledo in the 1960s where she began raising her family. Her working career involved many years at The Medical College of Ohio and for almost two decades was the medical transcriptionist for Digestive Healthcare, from which she retired due to her illness. Judith was preceded in death by her parents, Mercil Jean and Gene David Hiers, her brother, John David Hiers, nephew, Ronald Dunbar, just recently, her sister, Barbara Jean Dunbar and her beloved dogs, Kojac and Bettina. Judith is survived by her devoted husband of 28 years, Bill, and loving children; daughters, Jeanne Skeldon (Rod Horn) and Nicole Skeldon; son, Shawn (Sandy) Skeldon all of the Toledo/Sylvania, Ohio area; step-sons, Andrew, Chris, and Tim DeWeerd; along with 12 grandchildren. Also surviving are her sister, Susan Hiers Perry; two nephews and one niece. Judith loved following politics and discussing current events. She enjoyed watching the news and the House & Garden channel. Judith took great pride in loving her family, caring for her home and finding bargains at Macys. She will be missed by all of those who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers for those planning an expression of sympathy, are asked to consider Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 800 S. Detroit Ave. Toledo, Ohio 43609. A memorial gathering to celebrate the life of Judith will be held Monday, April 13, 2009 from 6-8pm at Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 North Main St. Sylvania, Ohio. The family has entrusted the Cremation Society of Toledo/Kiser Funeral Service with the care of Mrs. DeWeerd. Online condolences may be made below.
