Juanita Caldwell

d. March 8, 2012

Juanita May Caldwell, 86, passed away Thursday, March 8, 2012, surrounded by family and the very special and tender care-givers at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. Before going to Hospice, Juanita resided at The Woodlands at Sunset House and will miss her wonderful circle of “family” there. Juanita was the daughter of Homer and Carrie (Yount) Hall. As a young girl she was nurtured by her big sisters, Ruth, Hazel, and Viola, whom, after the untimely death of her parents, stepped in to fill that role. Her gratitude to them is lasting and heartfelt. Upon graduation from Scott High School she married Joseph LaJeunesse and they happily raised four children. After a successful marriage of 26 years she and Joe divorced and Juanita went on to a distinguished career in interior design. She became Director of Interior Design at Scholz Homes, Inc. and later became President and owner of Design Abstracts, Inc., conducting projects in New York, New Jersey, Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, and Florida. She was a professional member of the Institute of Business Designers since 1972. Juanita later married William F. Caldwell of Buffalo, NY. Their life together took them to Buffalo, NY, Bloomfield Hills, MI, Phoenix, AZ. and finally Perrysburg, OH. They were also fortunate to visit many interesting travel destinations over the years. In addition to her parents, Juanita was preceded in death by her eight siblings and her husband, William F. Caldwell. She is survived by her former husband and his wife (and close friends) Joe and Doris LaJeunesse; children, Carol (Alan) Dills (Maumee, Ohio), Janet (Tim) Holt (Denton, Texas), Jennifer Jacoby (Arlington, Mass.), and William (Lori) LaJeunesse (Malibu, California); step-children, Susan Caldwell (Brazil), Steven Caldwell (Romania), and Sandra Caldwell (Nancy Newbold) (Redwood City, CA); grandchildren, Matthew, Andrew, Cassie, Darcy, Amanda, Peter, William, Annie, and Corbin; great grandchildren, Katie, Matt, Abigail, Blake, Abigail, Gus, Mallory, Andrew, and “one on the way” in Dayton, Ohio. There will be no immediate services. A celebration of her life is planned at Maumee Bay State Park over the Memorial Day weekend. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to The Victory Center or Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg, in her name.
