Juan De La O, known to many as John, Johnny, or Jonathan-and also known as "Knowledge"-was a man who lived life boldly, loudly, and fully. He passed away at home on May 2, 2026, surrounded by family.
Juan was the kind of person who seemed to know just about everything. If you needed advice, an answer, or a story, he had one ready-usually with extra details. His stories could last for hours, and somehow, you never minded. Being around him meant learning something new or laughing a little harder.
He had a deep love for old cars and admired their craftsmanship like few others could. He enjoyed the thrill of casinos, loved to travel-even though he absolutely hated airplane rides-and held a special connection to San Antonio, a place that meant so much to him.
He cherished being outdoors-taking long walks, exercising, swimming, and spending quiet time in his garden, watching things grow.
More than anything, he loved his family. He shared 57 years of marriage with Susana and took great pride in the life they built together.
He treasured time with his children: Tanya, Juan (Pilo), and Leah. Music was a shared joy, and while he had thousands of favorite songs-7,635, to be exact-the louder, the better. The neighbors will surely miss their daily concerts, especially on Sundays.
His grandchildren-LeRoy, Ashantis, Anjelica, Alyssa, Alejandra, Annalicia, Devin, Ariyana, Nadia, Alejandro Juan, and Dinacio-his great-grandchildren-Amira, Kaydin, Aubriella, Ziyaa, Alani, Adalia, Anastaciya, Mabel, and Natalaeya-and grand dog-Bella-could get him to do just about anything. Their laughter softened him, their smiles moved him, and their love meant everything to him.
Juan had a big heart, but he also had a strong one. He was protective, passionate, and never afraid to stand his ground. And if you made him mad... watch out. Even that fire came from loyalty and love-he defended his family fiercely and stood firm in what he believed.
He was a proud and loyal Detroit Lions fan, standing by his team through every season-a true reflection of his faithful and determined spirit.
He shared special bonds with his closest friends-Mike, Ralph, Marcos, Jimmy, and Digger-friendships built on loyalty, laughter, and decades of memories.
Juan will be remembered for his strength, his knowledge, his humor, his fire, and his unforgettable presence. The silence left behind feels unfamiliar, especially where the music once played so loudly. But the stories he told, the lessons he shared, and the love he gave will continue to echo in the hearts of all who knew him.
His famous words will never be forgotten:
"See ya when I see ya."
He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
