Joyce Jones, 93, of Monclova OH, formerly of Bradenton, FL passed away peacefully with her beloved dog Sophie by her side at the home she shared with her daughter and caretaker, Connie, on June 14, 2022. Joyce was a very well-traveled and savvy businesswoman. Her very first job was selling apples and apple cider from her parent’s apple orchard as a teenager in Evansville, IN. Her sales talent and engaging demeanor led her to sell everything from apples to men’s suits to water softener and many things in between. She and her late husband, Phil, owned two successful RV businesses in MI and OH. As a teen, Joyce also enjoyed singing and entertaining with her beautiful voice. She was a lead singer for a band at the age of 15 and continued singing in nightclubs, weddings, and funerals. She could be found in Karaoke Bars in Bradenton well into her 80s. Joyce met her husband at the age of 13 and they married in 1949 after Phil’s stint in the US Marines where he served in China. Despite divorcing in 1974, they reconnected at their grandson’s high school graduation and remarried in 1996. They lived in Bradenton until Phil’s passing in 2006. Joyce remained very active in her senior condominium community until her health brought her to live with her daughter and son-in-law in 2020. Joyce was very proud of her family and enjoyed spending time with them at cookouts and taking day trips to the old homestead. She spent countless hours (years in fact) creating a large biographical binder to share with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren that will forever be cherished and passed on to future generations. Joyce is survived by her daughter, Connie (Wes) Nuhfer, son Don Jones, grandchildren Christina (Matthew) Foster, Michael (Christine) Nuhfer, and great-grandchildren Elizabeth, Spencer, Hannah, and Abigail. She was certainly greeted in Heaven and ran into the arms of her late husband, Phil, Mother Ada, Father Earl, and Siblings Lucille, Keith, and Robert. Joyce’s family would love to share memories and stories of Joyce at a celebration of life beginning at 11:30 am on June 26, 2022, at The Center for Conscious Living located at The Monclova Community Center East Wing on the first floor (8115 Monclova Rd, Monclova, OH). Joyce will be laid to rest in her hometown of Evansville IN. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff at Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their compassion and care over the last 6 weeks.
