Joyce I. Carpenter

Joyce I. Carpenter, age 89 of Toledo, Ohio passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones on July 4, 2023. Joyce was born September 11, 1933 to George and Marvel Taylor in Toledo, OH. After graduation from Morrison R. Waite High School in 1950, Joyce worked at Ford Motor Company as a cleaner for many years until her retirement in 2000. She continued to do what she loved by taking care of her loved ones, playing cards with Bruce, gardening, watching her black and white movies and musicals, spending time with friends, her faith in the Lord, and exploring the world!

Joyce was often found enjoying her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren; whether it was at sporting events, sitting with them in her lap, or while listening to her stories with a popsicle. She often could be found in her yard, gardening and decorating it for every holidays with her pup-pup, Zoe. She was an active member of Park United Church of Christ of Toledo for many years. She loved going to her monthly luncheons with the “girls" from Ford. She loved everyone; everyone was a special person which became a family member. Joyce was very well loved and will be missed by many.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, George and Marvel Taylor; her “boys", Michael G. Carpenter, Bruce A. Carpenter and Amos Cowson; her sister, Barbara Brown; her brother, George Taylor; her pup-pup, Zoe; and her grandson, Michael G. Carpenter, Jr. She is survived by her children, Patrick Carpenter, Wendy LeForge, and her baby, Ginger (Frank) Smith; 7 grandchildren and their loving spouses and many great grandchildren.

Family and friends will be invited to celebrate her life at Park Church, 1456 Harvard Blvd, Toledo, OH 43614 on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joyce’s honor can be made to Ohio Living Hospice, St. Jude's, Park United Church of Christ, or your local animal shelter. The family would like to thank Ohio Living Hospice, especially the wonderful loving care she received from Ellen and Salena.
