Joseph “Joe/Joey” G. Palencsar Jr., 65, passed away peacefully on October 18th after relenting to his battle with cancer. Joe was born on January 8th, 1956 in Toledo, Ohio to his parents, Joseph G. Palencsar Sr. and Gertrude Palencsar (Zielinski). Joe attended St. Francis where he was a state champion swimmer and graduated from Woodward High School in 1974. Joe was a jack of all trades that excelled at any career he sought after, but was most proud of his time served at CSX as a locomotive engineer on the railroad, where he later retired. Some of Joe’s favorite pastimes consisted of fishing, hunting, spontaneous road trips, collecting firearms, twisting bacon “hunky turkey” with friends and family, and trips to Lake Tomiko at the family cabin in Canada. Joe’s love for nature even lead him on his hike of the Appalachian trail. In addition to those hobbies, Joe was a horticulturist and could answer nearly every question on Jeopardy. He was an auxiliary member at the VFW post 9816, where he loved to share a beer with his many cherished friends. Joe had a big heart and was passionate about helping people whenever he could, especially his two daughters, whom he considered his greatest accomplishments in life. Joseph is survived by his daughters, Kaitlyn Palencsar, Madison Palencsar; son, Adam Murphy; sister, Patti (Chuck) Rutherford; nephew, Charlie (Valerie) Rutherford; niece, Jamie (Larry) Carroll; great nephew, Logan Carroll; great niece, Charli Carroll; cousins, Susie Palencsar Kelley, Ann Mcfarlan; ex wife and longtime companion, Gloria Palencsar; dearest friends, Judy Dybala, Bryan Olvera, George Abde. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Janice Palencsar; brother, Jack Palencsar; life long friend, William “Bud” Byers. Per Joe’s request, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, please consider needs of family regarding end of life/medical expenses.
