Joseph Joe Marchlewski

February 14, 1951 — January 28, 2020

Joseph “Joe” Marchlewski, age 68, was called home to be with the Lord on January 28, 2020. He died at home with his wife, Kathy, by his side. Joe was born on February 14, 1951 to Boleslaw and Kunigunde (Wehrl) Marchlewski in Dachau, Germany. His family moved to the United States when Joe was 10 months old. On November 4, 2011, Joe married Kathryn Caldwell in Toledo, Ohio. Kathy would often refer to Joe as “her better half”. The truth is, they each made the other person better when they were together. They enjoyed road trips, searching for the perfect hotdog, listening to Elvis, watching cooking shows and cheering for their grandchildren at sporting events. Joe is a 1969 graduate from Rossford High School. He remained in the Toledo area throughout his life. He was very knowledgeable about cars and opened up his own body shop. He later worked construction, managed the body shop at Brown Pontiac, owned a restaurant with his wife, Kathy, and ended his career driving truck for Estes Express Lines. Joe was a hard worker who took great pride in providing for his loved ones. After Joe’s retirement, from Estes Express Lines in 2015, he struggled with many health issues. Joe was a fighter and, despite all that he endured, he never gave up. Joe was a caring person who was always willing to lend a hand to someone in need. He enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys, working on cars, fishing, boating, looking for eagles, feeding the deer, spending time with family and friends and walking his beloved dog, Kuni. He is survived by his loving wife, Kathryn Marchlewski; children, Christopher (Melissa) Marchlewski, Jaysen Marchlewski, Jason Burleson, Samantha Parker, Jeremie Leclerc, Lydie Leclerc; grandchildren, Austin, Tyler, Christopher, Angel, Kaeleigh, Harmony and Alexis; brothers, Siegfried “Fred” (Patricia) Marchlewski, Kurt (Eileen) Marchlewski; mother-in-law, Lucy Caldwell; brothers-in-law, Craig (Barbara) Vollmar, James Caldwell; sisters-in-law, Cynthia Martinez, Melanie (James) Dunham; “adopted” daughters and granddaughters, Sarah Crowley and Joscelyn Cook, Tammi Swiderski and Brittany Varnes, and many special nieces, nephews and close friends. Joe was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Josephine Vollmar; and his father-in-law, James “Jim” Caldwell. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Joe’s name to the Kidney Foundation of Northwest Ohio. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, February 9, 2020, from 2pm- 6pm at Friendly Village, 27696 Oregon Rd, Perrysburg, Ohio 43551. (2 Tim. 4:7-8) ” I have competed well; I have finished the race; I have kept the faith. From now on the crown of the righteousness awaits me, which the Lord, the last judge, will award to me on that last day, and not only to me, but to all who have longed for his appearance.”
