Joseph Joe Donald Hollister, age 58, passed away on July 8, 2016 in his apartment in Oregon, Ohio. Joe was born on March 15, 1958 in Toledo, Ohio. He was the third child and only son of Donald and Alice Hollister, who preceded him in death. Joe earned his bachelors degree in engineering and worked as a Field Service Engineer for GE Healthcare from 1979 to 2000. A man of extraordinary intelligence, he spent his working days repairing CT scan machines and, upon retiring, was known to juggle multiple hobbies ranging from repairing broken electronics, to caring for pets and plants, to drafting astrology charts, and even building his own sound system. Joe had a deep love of music, boating, traveling, and animals. His unique appreciation for nature was evident in the way he cared about all living creatures and would go out of his way to help even the smallest of insects. Joe often put others before himself and would go to great lengths just to make his loved ones smile. Left to cherish Joes memory are his daughter, Karli Hollister; sisters, Carol (Robert) Vincent and Marylou (Henry) Rybaczewski; ex-spouse, Cathy (Hernandez) Hollister; companion, Tina Smith; and unofficial grandchildren Michael, Maddy, and Andrew. Family and friends are welcomed to attend a memorial service on Sunday, September 25, 2016 at 2 PM. The family will be available to greet guests beginning at 1:30 PM. The service will be held at the Indianola Shelter Area, 8505 S. River Road, in Waterville, Ohio and will be immediately followed by a luncheon. In light of Joes love of animals, the family asks that contributions in his memory be made to Back to the Wild Wildlife Rehabilitation Center: www.backtothewild.com Happiness is a way of travel not a destination.
