It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Joseph Michael Beaber, who entered into eternal life on Friday, May 16, 2025.
Born on June 27, 1940, in Maumee, Ohio, Joe was the son of Nate and Dorothy Gay Beaber. A proud graduate of St. Joseph Catholic School and Central Catholic High School (Class of 1958), he attended Bowling Green State University, he worked his way through school with determination and grit—traits that would define his life.
Joe devoted his life to his family and to serving his community. He married the love of his life, Mary, in 1962. Together, they shared 63 wonderful years of marriage and raised three children: Christopher Beaber, Jane (Dan) DiSalle, and Betsy (Phil) Barone.
A dedicated tradesman, Joe was a member of Local 50 Plumbers and Pipefitters. He launched his own plumbing business and later served the City of Maumee as a plumbing and zoning inspector, roles in which he was known for his integrity and expertise.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Joe was an avid gardener, an excellent cook, a talented photographer, and the proud founder of Papa Joe’s Salsa, launched in 1995. His salsa became well known and beloved in the community—just like Joe himself.
A lifetime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Maumee, Joe received all his sacraments there and remained a devoted parishioner throughout his life. His faith was a cornerstone, guiding his actions and relationships.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Nate and Dorothy Beaber; siblings Jeanne Harpen, John Beaber, Mary Margaret “Peggy” Fox, Bob Beaber, Dorothy Madigan, and Bill Beaber; his blessed granddaughter Julia Claire; and daughter-in-law Tricia Beaber.
He is survived by his devoted wife Mary, his loving children, and his adoring grandchildren: Erin (Brian) Jensen, Sean (Lauren) Beaber, Christina (Mike) Schoen, Philip (Kaylyne) Barone, Daniel DiSalle, Rosaria Barone, Jack Barone, Catherine (Ben) Gordon, Mary Sophia Barone, Jake DiSalle, Angelina Barone, Teddy DiSalle, and Vinny Barone. He was blessed with great-grandchildren Mia, Brady, Dominic, Giovanna, J.J., Tommy, and Annie.
Joe also leaves behind his beloved sisters, Therese Hanlon and Susie Atkinson, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family, and a wide circle of friends—especially those he lunched with regularly at Sidelines, where he made many dear friends in his retirement.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday, June 6, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Maumee for visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Burial will take place privately.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the compassionate staff at Northwest Ohio Hospice for the dignity and grace they offered Joe in his final days.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: St. Joseph Catholic Church Building Fund, Maumee, Ohio, or Northwest Ohio Hospice.
Joe’s deep love for his family, unwavering faith, and quick wit leave behind a lasting legacy that will be missed beyond words. He will be remembered with heartfelt gratitude and affection by all who were fortunate to know him.
