Jose Torres, Jr.

José (Pio) Torres Jr. peacefully went to be with the Lord on April 7, 2025, at his home in Maumee, (Springfield Township) OH.

He was born on May 22, 1951, in San Antonio Texas to Juanita (Benitez) Torres and José Torres Sr. who both proceeded him in death along with his sisters, Mary Helen Hernandez and Angie Gonzalez and a special nephew Frank Torres Jr.

José is survived by his wife and best friend of 27 years, Lisa (Klinger) Torres; his step-sons Michael W. (Michelle) Breeden and Adam T. Miller; his sisters, Irene ( Danny) Gonzalez, Elvira (Geno Van Norman) Torres, Susy (Lus) Ybarra, Christine ( Donald Howard) Torres, Maryann Frye; and his brother, Frank Torres Sr. ( Kathy Schrader); along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends.

Jośe enjoyed hiking in The Great Smoky Mountains, going to Mudhens games, fishing and riding his bike with Lisa in the beautiful Toledo Metroparks. He walked 6 miles daily with his cherished fur baby, Trixie (Little Girl) at Side Cut Metropark until he was unable.

José worked, at a young age, as a migrant, picking cotton, apples, tomatoes, cherries and all manner of fruits and vegetables.

Traveling, with his family, from Michigan to Florida and back until his family settled in Michigan so he and his siblings could attend Ida Grade School and Whiteford Agricultural High School.

José enjoyed everything to do with home construction and took pride in a job well done. José worked at his own successful construction business until he retired.

José volunteered to help with construction on several projects. The most satisfying to him was his work with “The Daughter Project”. He had a charitable spirit.

The family would like to thank the nurses, social worker and chaplain at Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their care during this difficult time.

A Celebration of Life Memorial will be held on April 13.
