Jose L. Garcia Sr. passed away May 27, 2025. He was born March 1,1955, in Oregon, Ohio to Rodolfo and Lupe (Santellana) Garcia. He was also known as "Luie" or "Pachotte".
He attended Northwood High School where he set the record for the 880 run that still stands today. He is a part of the Northwood High School Hall of Fame. He did a four-year tour in the Airforce as an Aerospace Ground Equipment mechanic servicing the machines that started jets on the flight line. While in the Airforce, he began a lifelong passion of studying martial arts. He was a huge Bruce Lee fan. Luie lived most of his life in Los Angeles, California where he worked for Hollywood Rentals as an electrician and lighting specialist. There he worked his passion for lighting on many major motion picture sets as well as commercials and other media and traveled the country.
Luie was preceded in death by his father, Rodolfo Garcia; and brothers, Rodolfo Jr. and Feliberto Garcia. He is survived by his mother, Lupe Garcia; his ex-wife, Karen Garcia; ex-longtime partner, Jennifer Minarcin; children, Jose "Luie" (Randi) Garcia Jr., Daniel Garcia, Sierra (Charles) Wetzel; grandchildren, Vincente Garcia, Leah (Joseph) Hancock, Antonio Garcia, Jackson Wetzel; great -grandchildren, Wyatt and River Hancock; sister, Susan (Gary) Orosco; and brothers, Rigoberto (Lupe) Garcia and Nicholas (Karen) Garcia.
There will be a private Celebration of Life held for family and friends.
