Jon Paul Llewellyn was a devoted husband, father, and role model. He took his last breath here on earth and his first breath in heaven in his home surrounded by his family on October 12th at age 53 after a decade-long battle with dementia.
Jon was born to Mike and Eunice Llewellyn in Rochester, NY on November 26th , 1968. After graduating from Hinsdale Central High School, Jon earned a Masters in Structural Engineering at the University of Illinois where he met and married his wife Kara on June 2nd, 1990. Together they have 4 children: Killian (30), Kaitlyn (29), Kadin (26), and Kimber (23).
Jon had a very decorated wrestling career at the University of Illinois as a 3-time Big Ten Champion, 3-time NCAA All-American, 1-time NCAA Heavyweight Champion, and afterwards as an Olympic Trials qualifier. Outside of working as a structural engineer, Jon devoted his life to his wife and kids, attending sporting events, going to church with them, and taking them on their annual family trip to the Outer Banks.
Jon gave back to his community through his involvement in the Perrysburg wrestling program. He also enjoyed playing tennis, windsurfing, and joining Kara on long runs and triathlon training.
Jon was preceded in death by: Michael Llewellyn (Father), Dave Llewellyn (Brother), Jennifer Kirby (Sister), Susan Kirby (Niece). Jon is survived by Kara Llewellyn (Wife), Killian Llewellyn (Son), Allie Llewellyn (Daughter-in-Law), Kaitlyn Llewellyn (Daughter), Kadin Llewellyn (Son), Paige Llewellyn (Daughter-in-Law), Kimber Llewellyn (Daughter), Aniceta Eunice Kraujalis Llewellyn (Mother), Chris & Kathy Llewellyn (Brother & Sister-in-Law), Keogg Llewellyn (Sister-in-Law), Tim and Keri Llewellyn (Brother and Sister-in-Law).
On Friday October 21st, a memorial service for Jon will be held at Redemption Church 8605 Salisbury Rd, Monclova, OH 43542, with visitation from 10 am - 12 pm and the service from 12 pm - 1 pm.
If you would like to further honor the memory of Jon, the Jon Llewellyn Perrysburg Wrestling Memorial Fund has been established to give back to the wrestling community he volunteered his time towards. Checks can be mailed or dropped off at the Perrysburg Schools Foundation at 140 E. Indiana Ave Perrysburg OH 43551 with “Llewellyn” in the memo. You can give online at perrysburgschoolsfoundation.org/donate and include the note “Llewellyn” to direct giving to the memorial fund.
