John C. Solly

John “Papa” C. Solly, 67, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away to see our Lord Jesus Christ on Monday, January 2, 2023 at ProMedica Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania, Ohio surrounded by his loving family. John was born in Toledo, Ohio on August 26, 1955 to Edward and Shirley (Hall) Solly. John attended Roy C. Start High School.

John became a licensed/insured contractor, working with his father Edward C. Solly. He went on to form his own contracting business, JCS Builders. His sons started working with him in the construction business doing remodeling, framing, full house constructions, dry wall, painting, plumbing, electrical, foundation work, and many more things. John and two of his sons constructed a second story on a one-story home to make it bigger for the family and then also built his own house from an old, abandoned cinderblock building. Also, John and two of his sons remolded a mansion in Ottawa Hills that he was very proud of. John worked with his son Justin for 30+ years and more recently for last 6 years with Jonathan.

Some of John’s hobbies and things he really loved to do were working, wood working and building homemade items, building and flying model airplanes with his sons, golfing with his sons, fishing, going to the shooting range with his oldest son, playing Super Mario Bros. 3, spending time with family and especially his grandkids.

Surviving are his wife, Lori (Lithicum) Solly; children, Chris (Laura) Solly, Heather (Greg Doss) Solly, Justin (Nicole) Weber, Candice (Matt) Strain, and Jonathan Solly; grandchildren, Christopher (Dakota Stites) Solly II, Jordan Doss, Ashley Solly, Brendan Doss, Austin Doss, Kaitlyn Solly, Ava Strain, Lauren Roe, Kierah Solly, Nora and Jack Weber; brother, Norm (Vicki) Solly; sister, Linda Meyer, and several nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, David Solly and Edward Fox.

There will be a short Memorial service at Most Blessed Sacrament Parish, 2240 Castlewood Drive, Toledo, OH 43613 on Saturday, February 18th, 2023 at 11:00 am. No burial of cremated remains will be done.
