On Saturday, December 16, John Robert Myers, a lifelong resident of Toledo, OH, passed away at the age of 69.
He honorably served in the United States Marine Corps, reaching the rank of Sergeant, during the Vietnam War and was stationed on the USS ENTERPRISE aircraft carrier as a Military Policy Officer and 50 caliber gunner. He was a true patriot, showing passion for his country. He was also a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association (NRA) and enjoyed competitive shooting, reloading, and hunting. He could often be found at his reloading bench in the garage listening to his favorite country artists Johnny Horton and Marty Robbins.
John also relished the times he spent with his loving wife, riding their motorcycle across the United States. As a devoted husband, father, brother-in-law, uncle, and grandfather, John will be remembered for his down to earth demeanor, genuine personality, and love for his family.
He was predeceased by his parents, Donald and Joan.
He is survived by his wife, Ann, of 41 years; son, Steven (Jennifer); grandchildren, Ryan Ashley and Margaret Grace; sisters-in-law, Andrea Lundgren (Carl), Mary Terry, Barb Becker, Rose Watson (Rick), Angel Dixon, and Beth Hall (Gerry).
He will be eternally missed by those who loved him. A private service is planned, which will include military honors. Donations in his memory may be made to the Veterans Affairs or the NRA.
