John Bennie Meyer, 72, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, April 6, 2021. John was born in Anacortes, WA on May 16, 1948 and spent most of his life on beautiful Whidbey Island, WA. After graduating from Oak Harbor High School in 1966 John spent 2 summers in Alaska working on Pile Drivers for the canaries and the next year with his Dad as a logger in the mountains of Oregon. John found his true passion in life while helping build his family home with his parents Charlie and Ramona and many relatives. He worked for P&L Construction for 35 years, Yonkman Construction for 2 years and 6 years with Quantum Construction. John was an avid fisherman, hunter and loved to spend weeks during hunting season at a cabin shared with his buddies. He was a wonderful friend and ready to help with many home remodels. John and his wife, Linda, were married for 29 years retiring in 2012 to Toledo, Ohio. They loved to fish, camp, work on wood projects and visit their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. John was very close to his extended family that live in 8 states and Germany. He was a great story teller and shared his life with his children and grandchildren. John is survived by his wife, Linda; sister, Arlene; children, Krista, Chad, Courtney, Kevin, Kristinac and Craig; very supportive sons and daughters-in-law; 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. John also left so many wonderful friends all over the world! He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and many other relatives. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
