John Mcloughlin, Sr.

John Lee McLoughlin, age 85, of Lima, Ohio, passed away peacefully Wednesday, February 19, 2025. John spent the last few weeks of his life in the care of his family in Monclova, Ohio.

He was born November 22, 1939, in Lima, Ohio, to John S. McLoughlin and Cora L. (Burgner) McLoughlin. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Janice (Jerry) Spence and Linda Pierson; and his daughter in law, Margaret (John) McLoughlin.

John was part of the first graduating class of Lima Central Catholic in 1957. He served three years as a master tank gunner in the Army; honorably discharged in 1963. He worked as a journey electrician for 38 years out of I.B.E.W Local 32 Union Hall, where he was a 60-year member.

He is survived by his son, John (Traci) Lee McLoughlin Jr.; his daughter, Joan (Joe) Newland; three grandsons, J. Quinn McLoughlin, J. Kirby McLoughlin, Logan Newland; and ex-wife, Diana (Pugh) McLoughlin.

He thoroughly enjoyed the company of his fellow retirees at Local 32 and the bonds formed with others during his years of RV travel and wintering in Florida. He enjoyed building model ships, pistol target shooting, and had a true love for bicycling.

In keeping with his wishes there will be no formal services. John’s loved ones take comfort in their memories of him.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at IBEW Local 32 Union Hall,    1975 N West St, Lima, Ohio.

A Private burial will follow at Gethsemani Cemetery, in Lima, at a later date.
