John R. Burgess

John R. Burgess passed away on June 26, 2024, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo, Ohio. John was born on June 27,1946, at Camp Atterbury, Indiana. John graduated from Scott High School Class of 1964 and attended Davis Business College. He worked for Pondrosa and Bonaza Steak House, as a manager, area manager and district supervisor, for the Michigan locations. He also worked for Peninsular Steel and Abbott Tool & Die before retiring in 2017.

John is survived by his wife of 44 years, Diane (Brauer) Burgess; children, Jennifer (Todd) Drenning, Brian (Dawn) Brauer and Kenny Brauer; siblings, Mary Beth Lanier and Alan Smalley; sister-in-law, Karin (Doug) Shanks; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the staff at St Annes CTCU and Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo, for their care and compassion in Johns last days.

A memorial gathering will be held Sunday, July 14th, at 1:00pm, at Secor Metro park's Walnut Grove shelter house.
