Joanne Markley Piatt, 82 went to be with her Lord and Savior on Feb. 9, 2012. She is now reunited with the love of her life Richard Piatt who went to be with the Lord Sept. 23, 1986. Joanne graduated from Whitney Vocational High School, in cosmetology, passing her State Board testing. She worked a number of years in a salon, with a large following of steady customers. She then started work in Food Service for the Toledo Public Schools. Working in Keyser, Rogers, Mctigue, Glendale-Feilbach and retiring from Hawkins Elementary School. She worked 30 years for TPS. She then volunteered as a Grandparent aid at Elmhurst Elementary in her sister Jean Michams, Kindergarten class for over 6 years. Joanne loved the Lord with all her heart. Being a charter member of Garden Park Christian Church, and a member of the Boulevard Church of Christ. She worked in many areas of her church, from being secretary, treasure, singing in the choir, Vaction Bible School director, and teaching Sunday school for over 30 years. She now sings with the angels! Joanne was a avid reader, her husband Richard use to say “the house could burn down, and there Joanne would be, with her nose in a book!” She loved to play the piano and accordian. She loved to travel, taking a number of Motorcoach trips with the Auto Club. Her favorite place was Mackinac Island, where she would go as often as she could. She is survived by, son Randy (Pam) of Remus, MI. Daughter Nancy Piatt of Toledo, OH. Sisters Jean Micham of Loveland, OH, and Marylou Trowbridge of Melbourne FL. Grandaughter Megan (Steve) Demott, great-grandaughters Gwen and Bre of Alma, MI, and Grandson Charles Piatt of Remus, MI. Nephews: Paul (Karen) Trowbridge of Swanton, Oh. Plus five great nephews, three great nieces, and great-great nieces and nephews. Joanne leaves a legacy of love to all those who knew her. Her great sense of humor, beautiful blue eyes, smile and gentle strength will be greatly missed until we meet again. All of Joannes pain is gone forever, as Revelation 21:4 says “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death, or mourning, or crying or pain.” Rest in peace our beloved mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend!
