Joann M. Nelms

JoAnn M. Nelms (LaBounty), 95, former resident of Oregon, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 10, 2022. She was born March 3, 1927 to Mabel and Raymond F. LaBounty. She graduated from Clay High School in 1945. She was married on February 9, 1946 to Eugene W. Nelms, who passed away on December 19,1996, after 50 years of marriage. She was the loving mother and grandmother to her surviving family; daughters, Joyce (son-in-law, Kenneth M. George) and Christine Nelms; son, David (daughter-in-law Anne) Cross-Nelms; grandchildren, Mitchel George (wife Erin), Jason George (wife Alison), and Zoe Cross-Nelms; three great grandchildren, Kaity George, Loren George and Timothy George; and step-great granddaughter, Hannah Jaegle. JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mary Lou Rettenberger; and brother, Raymond LaBounty. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Carol LaBounty and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held during internment at a future date. The family would like to Thank all of her “angels” at the Elizabeth Scott Community for their wonderful care. Memorial contributions in JoAnn’s name can be made to any of her favorite charities, Toledo Humane Society (due to her love of animals), Cherry Street Mission, or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
