Joan Marie (Thatcher) Erb, 84, of Elyria, was born October 23, 1939 in Elyria and passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2023.
Joan graduated from Midview High School, Grafton and was employed by the United States Government with the Social Security Administration for 21 years as a Legal Assistant. She enjoyed working for the U.S. government and was proud of helping those in need.
She was a Methodist. Joan loved her children and grandchildren. They enjoyed visiting her many times in Tampa and Englewood, Florida, going to Aquariums and to the beaches. She loved gardening, sewing, exercising, and finding amazing recipes. She enjoyed her home on a lake in Riverview, Florida, lighting candles and breathing the fresh air while watching for alligators. She was such an amazing woman and will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her son, Edward Jeffery Erb III; mother, Dorothy (Kemp) Bennett of Englewood, Florida; stepfather, Baker Doyle Bennett of Englewood, Florida; father, Charles Merritt Thatcher; sister, Carroll (Thatcher) Krute and brother, Richard Alva Bennett.
She is survived by her daughter, Jamie (Erb) Orians and her husband, Kevin Orians of Perrysburg, Ohio; brother, Larry Merritt Thatcher of Villages, Florida; former husband, Edward (Sonny) Erb, Jr.; grandchildren, Samuel Orians (Kelsey), Mason Orians and Sydney Orians.
A private ceremony with close family will be held at a later date.
