Joan M. Baughman, 83, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on May 16, 2017. She was born April 20, 1934 in Cleveland, OH. Joan worked for the USPS for 23 years, retiring in 1992, and for the telephone company before that. She loved animals from a very early age and always took care of them. After her retirement, Joan was an outstanding volunteer and benefactor of Paws and Whiskers Cat Shelter, organizing the shelters annual yard sale at the Old West End Festival, the Sand Piper cruises, and many other fundraising events.” She was named not only Volunteer of the Year in 2004, but Volunteer of the Decade for 2001-2010.” Joans hobbies included raising African violets and orchids. She was a fiercely independent woman, with a wonderfully dry sense of humor. Her brother, Jim Turner, of St. Pete, FL; her sister, Cheryl Turner of Phoenix, AZ; and her cousin, Diane Savatteri, of Lancaster, NY, and many dear friends survive Joan. She is also survived by her three well-loved cats: Jessie, Lulu, and Callie. There will be no services, but those who wish to, may make a memorial donation to Paws and Whiskers, 32 Hillwyck Drive, Toledo, OH 43615.
