Jerome “Jerry” Karamol, age 78, of Toledo passed away peacefully on March 16, 2023 surrounded by his loving wife, daughters and sister, Patti.
Jerry was born June 14, 1944 to Dominic and Frances (Budzyn) Karamol. He was quite the storyteller, and thoroughly enjoyed life, except that one time in 1952 when he broke both legs after being hit by a car-he never did get that root beer popsicle! Jerry enlisted in the US Army and proudly served his country as a translator until 1968. He was employed with the Lucas County Sheriff’s Department for most of his adult life.
Jerry was an avid fisherman and enjoyed camping, the casino, napping, all the sports, especially the Red Sox and Bruins, and spending time with his devoted wife of 52 years, Marcia. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Terry, favorite oldest grandson Little Bernie “Bo” Lloyd and special canine companions, Harry and Bart. Jerry is survived by his wife, Marcia, daughters Kristen (Tim) Boyd, Valerie (Big Bernie) Lloyd and Jodie (David) Birch, his amazing and unruly grandchildren Alyssa, Ella and Cian Boyd, Ethan Lloyd, Madison, Marek and Adelaide “Baby” Birch, great grandson Emmett, dog Buck, siblings Patti Harrel, Carolyn Burzynski, Dennis Karamol and Mark Karamol, special aunt Diane Mielcarek, as well as a heck of a lot of nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will receive visitors in the Narthex at Our Lady of Perpetual Help (OLPH) in Toledo on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at 10:09am, with the funeral services at 11:00am. A celebration of Jerry’s life will follow.
The family thanks all the nurses and staff at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
