Jeri Lynn Meckel-Waller

November 14, 1957 — March 3, 2023

Jeri Lynn Meckel-Waller (65) passed away peacefully in her sleep March 3, 2023 at Swanton Valley Care and Rehabilitation Center under the care of SouthernCare Hospice Services - Toledo.

Born November 14, 1957, in St. Paul, Minnesota. Jeri grew up in the shadows of the foothills of El Cajon, CA, daughter of David and Ardelle (Heen) Meckel and attended Granite Hills High School graduating in 1975.

In 1980, Jeri met and then on October 20, 1990 married her true love Larry (Lawrence E.) Waller. They chose to settle in the lovely rural community of Swanton, OH. Jeri became a nurse (which was the perfect profession for her) working at The Toledo Hospital for 15 years before transitioning to home health care nursing. I need to say very little more about who Jeri was because all nurses are angels, right? Well, this nurse was. Jeri was one of the most unassuming, caring, nurturing, loyal, and generous people known. Everyone will miss her greatly, yet none more than Larry, Jeri’s loving, dedicated husband of 42 years, or the nieces and nephew (they fostered) who now call her Mom, Crystal (Waller) Finch; Carol (Waller) Fedore; Jennifer (Waller) Lopez and Justin Waller. Her love for them all was unlimited and forever.

As age and health took their toll, Larry became her caregiver for 8 years until 2 major strokes put her in 24hr assisted living in 2019. Larry continued, visiting her and keeping an eye on the care she was getting over the next 3 years. Theirs is a real love story.

Jeri was an active member of Sigma Phi Gamma Sorority, Nu Xi chapter in Toledo, OH for 22 years, volunteering thru philanthropic works raising money for charity. She will now be honored as a member of their Zeta Memorial Chapter.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband Larry Waller; sister Susan (Jim Parker) Meckel of La Mesa, CA and foster children Crystal (Jason) Finch of Toledo, OH; Carol (Nick) Fedore of Colton, CA; Jennifer (Waller) Lopez of Toledo, OH; and Justin (Ashley) Waller of Toledo, OH; along with extended family; friends across the country; and many nieces and nephews. Jeri was preceded in death by her father David Meckel; mother Ardelle (Heen) Meckel and nephew Ryan Meckel-Parker.

Memorial donations to honor this wonderful woman would be forever appreciated.
