Jeffrey Eugene Nopper, 64 years old, died August 26, 2018 at the University of Toledo Medical Center. Jeff was born November 16, 1953, the second of the nine children of Donald and Patricia Nopper. He passed peacefully, surrounded by his loving, heartbroken family and the professionals at UTMC Medical ICU who cared for him so kindly in his last days. Jeff attended Woodward High School, and the US Merchant Marine Academy in Toledo. He served on Great Lakes freighters before enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1972. After his Navy service, Jeff became an ironworker through the Ironworkers Local 55, from which he retired after many years of helping to build the structures that make up the skyline of the city he loved. He was most proud of one of the last jobs he worked, the construction of Toledo’s landmark Huntington Center. Jeff was preceded in death by his son Jeffrey Nopper II, his parents Patricia Horsman Nopper and Donald E Nopper, his sister Nancy Nopper Frelin, and his brother Don Olin (Buck) Nopper. He is survived by his wife Lynne, his sons Clifford and Stephen, his brother Paul Nopper (Kelly), sisters Jackie Cooper, (George), Rhea Gontarski (Paul), Amy Nopper, Roberta Nopper, Rhonda Danko (Steve), and his friend Jo Gerity.
