Jeffrey Scott Mitchell Sr., 59, passed away peacefully at his home on October 5, 2025. Born on April 19, 1966, Jeff lived a life defined by hard work, loyalty, and love for the people around him.
A tradesman through and through, Jeff devoted his career to mastering the craft of custom metalworking in the residential sector. His skill and dedication earned him the respect of many, and his handiwork can be found in countless homes and serve as lasting reminders of his craftsmanship and pride in his work.
Outside of work, Jeff was known for his generous heart and his love of cooking. He believed food was a way to bring people together, and no one ever left his table hungry. Whether he was making a big meal for family and friends or perfecting his famous homemade jerky, Jeff found joy in feeding others and sharing good company — usually with a cold beer in hand.
He was easygoing, down-to-earth, and had a gift for making anyone feel comfortable. Jeff was a man who listened without judgment and welcomed everyone as they were. Being around him felt like being home.
Jeff is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Mitchell Sr. and Patricia Sherwin (Bortles), his sister Ginger Stroshine, and his brother Jimmy Mitchell.
He is survived by his loving partner of 18 years, Kim Placzkiewicz; his sons Karl Livingston and Jeff Mitchell Jr.; brothers Al Zerbe, Robert Mitchell Jr., and Jonathan Sherwin; sisters Susie Sherwin, Jen Sherwin, Roxanne Stinson, and Machelle Miller; seven grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews who adored him.
Jeff will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, but his warmth, laughter, and kindness will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 18th, 2025 at 2:00 PM at 6507 Nebraska Ave. Toledo, Ohio 43615
Family and friends are invited to join in sharing stories, good food, and memories of Jeff — just as he would have wanted.
