Jean E. Gassel

Jean (Sheldon) Gassel, a part time resident of Perrysburg, Ohio and Livonia, Michigan, passed away on January 27, 2022 at the Hospice of NW Ohio, at the age of 95. She is survived by sons, Richard, Robert and Steven (Elizabeth); daughter, Kathy (Greg) Schneider; grandchildren, Ryan (Bridget) Burton, Darin (Hayley) Gassel, Charlie (Megan) Schneider, Kristina Schneider, Amber (Sabastian) Mock, Shayna (Jimmy) Chinavare, Marissia (Austin) Maxey; great grandchildren; Chloe (Brad) Tourt, Lexi Neuman, Lance Burton, Austin and Stella Gassel, Paige and Colton Schneider, Evee and Lincoln Mock, and Hallie Chinavare. Jean was born in Jeddo, Michigan, to the late Leland and Myrtle Sheldon. She was the oldest of 9 children, Helen (deceased), Myrtle (deceased), Ginny Campbell, Sharon Hamel (David), Karen Scheiman, Ed Sheldon (Deceased), Lois Callaway, George Sheldon. Also remembering Jean fondly are many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Jean was married in 1946, at the age of 20, to Michael Gassel. In 1956, they moved to Livonia, Michigan with their two sons. They remained in Livonia until Mike's passing in 2006. They were married for 60 years. Jean then shared her time between Livonia and Perrysburg with children. Jean’s life centered around her family. She had a passion for life. She was an inspiration of kindness and a role model for her incredible determination and strength to overcome obstacles. A celebration of her life will be held in the spring in Port Huron, Michigan.
