Toledo

Jarus Kevin Quinn of Toledo, OH, passed away on December 31, 2025, after a sudden illness. Born in Baltimore, MD. On April 18,1954, Kevin was the son of Jarus W. And Margaret M. Quinn. He earned an undergraduate degree in philosophy from the University of Maryland and a doctoral degree in economics from American University in Washington D.C. He taught at Bowling Green State University for over 30 years. His research interests were in economic thought, philosophy, and pedagogy.

Kevin was a loving husband, devoted father, and cherished grandfather. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and creating joyful memories with his family. Kevin was loved for his amazing intelligence and quick wit. He read voraciously in his field and beyond. He will be remembered for his political acuity, his abhorrence of injustice, his incisive wit, and his love of laughter. Friends described him as the most beautiful, empathetic human they had met. His wife speaks of him as a dependable and hardworking man, whose generosity and unwavering support shaped our family and touched the lives of everyone who knew him. His weakness was Five Guys Burgers. He had a passion for jazz music and keeping up with current events. A possible reflection of his philosophy of life was a quote from Groucho Marx, “Learn from the mistakes of others. You can never live long enough to make them all yourself.” He will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him, but his love and kindness will live on in our hearts.

Kevin was married to Mildred “Micki” Walker Quinn. He had two children, Molly (Falls Church, VA), and Alexandra (Frederick, MD), from a previous marriage and three grandchildren, Fia, Rowan, and Cian. He enjoyed life with Micki’s children, Chad (Toledo, OH), Ambree (Atlanta, GA), and their children, Aniyah Riley, Zane Walker, Lonnie Smith, Zayden Smith, and Zaire Smith. Kevin is survived by one brother, Colin (Tinmath, Colorado), and three sisters, Jennifer (Mountain View, CA), Kristin (Davenport, IA) and Megan (Ames, IA).

A private family service will be held to honor his life.
