Janys F. Etts

Janys Fabian Etts, age 70, of Toledo, Ohio passed away on April 8, 2021 from complications of COVID-19 at St. Anne's Hospital. Janys was born in Toledo, Ohio on March 27, 1951 to Sophie (Midas) and Merril Calisch. She attended Whitmer High School and received her Associates Degree in Accounting from Stautzenberger College. She worked for Progressive Furniture and Sauder's as a credit manager for a total of 25 years. Janys was a fierce animal lover with a habit of taking in rescue dogs and making them amazing family members. She was a great cook and foodie and loved movies and traveling. Most of all she loved her son Jimmy and family immensely and was a dedicated and loyal friend to many. She was known as "Mama Etts" to a great deal of friends and people that she met throughout the years. She was preceded in death by her father, some dear friends, and many beloved fur babies. Janys is survived by her mother, Sophie Calisch; son James L. Etts (Kelly); brothers Tony (Juanita) and Jeff Calisch; aunt Ginnie Trembley; uncle Sam Midas; niece Michelle Trembley; nephews Adam (Danielle) Calisch, Matthew (Carrie) Calisch; several great nieces and nephews; foster daughters Jada Sanchez and Mary Nothan; her dog Chloe, and many dear and close friends. There will be a celebration of life Friday June 11, 2021 at Brickhouse Commons Hall 3535 N. Holland-Sylvania Rd. Sylvania, Ohio from 4-9 p.m. Food and refreshments will be provided. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Toledo Humane Society or a charity of the donor's choice.
