Janice A. Hicks

Janice A. Hicks, age 80, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Orchard Villa in Oregon, Ohio. Janice was born on July 6, 1938 to Sherman and Melba (Withrow) Hicks in Toledo, Ohio. Janice attended Waite and Whitney High Schools, graduating with a degree in Cosmetology. Her first job was working as a beautician at Lion Store in downtown Toledo. Later in her life, she worked at Peerless Plastics and became active in UAW Local 12, serving on the Executive Board. Janice enjoyed reading, bowling and spending time with her family. Despite hardships, she persevered and always provided for her daughters. Janice is survived by her loving daughters, Shelly Savory and Sarah (Ralph Snyder) Picklesimer; her granddaughter, Abigail (Phillip) Hook; great grandchildren, Bentley, Raegan and Elliot Hook; brothers, Larry (Marge) Hicks and Jim (Donna) Hicks; sister, Sharon Wilson, and many cousins and nephews. A service will be held at Epworth United Methodist Church, 4855 W. Central Avenue, Toledo, Ohio on Friday, January 25 at 2 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
