Janice Kaye (Lassiter) Daman, 58, passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 18, 2021, with her family by her side. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends. She was born September 8, 1963, in Toledo, Ohio, to Garvin and Faye (Young) Lassiter. Jan graduated from Owens Community College with an Associate Degree in nursing. She was a dedicated Registered Nurse for 29 years, most recently employed with Elizabeth Scott Community. During her extensive career in nursing, she touched the lives of so many people. Being detailed and artistic, she found pleasure dedicating time and love to creating works of art from stained glass, painting, coloring and needlework. Music moved her soul. Jan was a self-proclaimed Queen afficionado and collector of all things Freddy Mercury. Anyone that knew Jan knows she had such a love for Harley Davidson motorcycles, especially going on rides with her brother John. She truly appreciated the love and support she received from the motorcycle community in the most recent months. She loved to indulge in the finer things in life such as time with family, her dog named Kitty, anything chocolate (especially ice-cream and chocolate-covered cherries) and sitting outside, rocking in the fresh air. Her ultimate “Happy Place” was in the sand, under the sun, surrounded by family and friends in the warm ocean breeze of Hatteras Island in OBX. Known by many names, such as “JanJan”, “Momma”, “Sis”, “Lil Rascal”, “AJ” and “Granny”, Jan was a loving daughter, mother, sister, aunt, grandma, great grandmother and friend. She is survived by her sister Carolyn (Melvin) Blausey, her brother John (Anne) Lassiter, her two daughters, Jessica (Billy) Cisler, Amanda (Mickey) Cornwell, 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 6 nieces and nephews, 12 great nieces and nephews and her American Mastiff, Kitty. She was preceded in death by her father, Garvin Carroll Lassiter, her mother, Delilah Faye Lassiter, her brother, James Lee Lassiter and her sister, Michelle Lynn Lassiter. A Celebration of Life reception will be held at the Crosby Conference Center in the Toledo Botanical Gardens at 5403 Elmer Dr. Toledo, OH 43615 on October 31, 2021, from 1 PM to 7 PM for anyone who’s life she may have touched.
