Janet Louise Nelson

Janet “Jan” Nelson, age 71, passed away on November 3, 2022 in Toledo, Ohio.

She was born on May 30, 1951 to Frederick Nelson and Mary Jo McIlrath. Jan graduated from Maumee High School and attended Penta County Vocational School and the Toledo Academy of Beauty to study cosmetology. She was an excellent cosmetologist for many years.

On June 28, 1969 she married John Zabowski, Jr. and they had two sons together, Jeffery and Jonathan. Jan loved to spend time with her family and enjoyed having a nice dinner with her sons. She also loved butterflies and enjoyed the peace that they brought her. She will always be remembered for her butterfly collections.

Jan is preceded in death by her parents and oldest son Jeffery Zabowski. She is survived by her son Jonathan Zabowski; sisters Becky (Marv) Kotnik and Yvonne (Mike) Fox and first husband John Zabowski. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and her longtime friend Joann “Jo-Jo” Friend.

The family will hold a private service and memorial dinner to honor Jan. She will truly be missed by those who loved her.
