Jana Wenzel, 49 years of age, died July 17, 2022 in Toledo, Ohio. She was born to Dennis and Sara Kay Wenzel on December 30, 1972 in Toledo, Ohio. After completing the first seven years of school at Otsego in Grand Rapids, Ohio, she was presented The National Merit Scholarship Award by Congressman Randy Gardner. The family moved to Bowling Green Ohio in 1986 and she graduated from BGHS in 1991. She studied gerontology at BGSU and nursing at Mercy College. She was employed as an anesthesia technician at UTMC 1992-1999. Jana was preceded in death by grandparents Ruth/Ray Wenzel and Helen/Charles Thomas; Uncles Garth (Jean) Thomas, John (Eleanor) Thomas and Aunt Carol (Howard) Detray. She is survived by her parents, brother Zach (Sonya) Wenzel and her nieces Isabel and Alexa and nephew Mason, Uncle Ron (Nan) Thomas and Aunt Kathy (Thomas) Roper. Her life was shared with 14 cousins: Jenni, TJ, Doug, Jeff, Jeremy, Ben, Sara, Bev, Emily, Hilary, Jacob, Howie, Ray and Evie. Also surviving are lifelong friend Linda, co-worker, mentor and best friend Rita Catchings as well as soulmate Ladden. At the time of her death she was employed as a Resident Assistant at Zeph Center on Collingwood Avenue. Her co-workers at Zeph and her friends in NA Program gave her much love and encouragement. In lieu of funeral services, Memorial Masses will be offered for the repose of her soul.
