James “Jimmy” Lee Vines, of Sylvania, Ohio, a devoted husband, father, Papa, and friend, passed away on April 21, 2025. Born in Walla Walla, Washington, March 5, 1956, James lived a life marked by quiet strength, deep compassion, and a warm sense of humor that touched all who knew him.
In 1981, Jim married the love of his life, his wife, Cindy Lu Seel, and they shared 43 beautiful years of marriage building a life rich in love, laughter, and unwavering partnership. Together they raised two wonderful daughters, Katherine (Anas) Vines and Jessica (Gregory) DeBrincat, who carry forward his legacy of kindness and resilience. Jim was also a proud and adoring Papa to six grandchildren Jack, Owen, Lilly, Leona, Charlotte and Elias, who brought immense joy and light to his days.
Jim loved decorating for the holidays, turning each season into a celebration for his family and neighborhood. He especially cherished playing games with his grandkids, spending time outside with them, and attending their baseball games with pride and excitement. An avid golfer and seasoned traveler, Jim found joy on the putting greens and in the discovery of new places. But perhaps his favorite pastime was found in the simple peace of nature — he loved feeding the squirrels and deer, often watching quietly from the porch swing, a content smile on his face.
Jim was preceded in death by his loving parents, Hunter and Marguerite Vines, sister, Mary Susan, father-in-law, Robert H. Seel and brother-in-law, Richard R. Seel. Though he will be deeply missed, his gentle spirit and the love he shared will continue to live on in all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 31st at 11:00 AM at Olivet Lutheran Church, 5840 Monroe St., Sylvania, OH 43560, where friends and family will gather to honor and remember Jim’s life.
James Lee Vines will forever be remembered for the love he gave so freely, the stories he shared, and the quiet way he made the world a better place.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Toledo Metroparks, an organization that reflects Jim’s deep appreciation for the natural world and its quiet, healing beauty.
