James "Jimmy" Nelson Thompson, 60, passed away peacefully at the Northwest Ohio Hospice Center on Thursday, July 17, 2025. He was born on December 24, 1964, to Mary Thompson-Fackelmann and the late John Henry Thompson.
Jimmy grew up in Monroe, Michigan and graduated from Monroe High School. He spent much of his early life working as an auto mechanic - a natural fit for his love of classic cars and working with his hands. Later in life he found purpose and pride in a new career as a Medical Equipment Technician, where he was known for his strong work ethic and kind demeanor.
Jimmy made Toledo, Ohio, his home, for the last 20 years, where he shared his life with his devoted partner, Katrina Cain. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
A true lover of music, Jimmy could be found strumming his guitar or enjoying a wide range of musical styles
He was a creative spirit with a great sense of humor, always ready to tell a story or share a laugh. Whether under a hood of a car or gathered at the kitchen table, he brought joy to those around him.
Jimmy is survived by his lifelong partner, Katrina Cain; his mother, Mary Thompson-Fackelmann; siblings, Steve Thompson, Bobbie (Mike) Farris, John R Thompson, and Nora Thompson-Joyce; his children, Lachelle Germain, Donovan Thompson, Savanna Sandlin and Hailey Thompson.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to the Cremation Society of Toledo.
