James "Jim" Stader

April 22, 1933 — November 18, 2022

James E. Stader of Toledo, OH passed peacefully in his sleep Friday morning on November 18, 2022.

Jim was born April 22, 1933 to Joseph and Barbara (Copic) Stader. Upon graduation from Libbey High School, Jim enlisted in the US Navy where he served heroically during the Korean War from 1951-1953. Upon discharge from the Navy, he worked tirelessly as a member of the Painter's Union Local 7 as a painter and paper hanger. He had a keen sense of color and interior style.

Jim is survived by his sons, Tod (Robin), Chris (Theresa) and Bill (Mary); grandsons, Joshua (Christy), Bill, Michael, Tyler, Kevin (Eliza), and Colin; great-grandchildren, Seeley and Lucy; brothers, Don (Vee), Dick (Terry), and sister-in-law, Pat along with countless nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol; his mother and father; his brother, Joe and sisters, Jean (Chuck), Barbara (Bob), and Shirley (Jerry).

Jim was involved in many organizations in the community starting with coaching little league baseball and football in the Washington Local district. He was involved in decorating the Toledo Firefighters Museum in West Toledo. Most recently, Jim and Carol served as chapter directors of the Bowling Green chapter of the Honda Road Riders Association in retirement.

Papa Jim prided himself most in spending his retirement spoiling those around him. He loved his time working the local golf tournament with his grandsons, and everyone who knew him has a hand made ceramic memento to carry in his memory. He was an active participant at Senior Center Inc. where he taught ceramics classes to fellow seniors and served as president of their Board of Directors.
