James G. Keller

James G. Keller, 66, of Toledo, passed away on April 30, 2015 at the Cleveland Clinic. He was born on July 2, 1948 to Eugene and AlVera (McKenna) Keller in East Chicago, IN. Jim graduated from Rogers High School in 1966 and went on to earn a Bachelors degree in English from the University of Toledo. A dedicated teacher, he taught English at St. Francis de Sales High School, also serving as advisor to the literary magazine and on various administrative committees. Jim viewed literature as a reflection of life and testament to the human condition, and strived to instill his love of the written word into his students. He retired in 2013. Jim was also very concerned with social justice and human rights, supporting various organizations such as the ACLU and 1Matters. Left to cherish his memory are his loving ex-wife and forever best friend: Linda (Harrsen) Keller of Toledo; daughters: Alexis Keller of Portland, OR and Elizabeth (Adam) Turner of Beavercreek, OH; sisters: Joanne Joyce of Strongsville, OH and Janise Keller of Parma Heights, OH; brother: Jerome Keller of Pella, IA; loving nieces, nephews, and countless friends. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brother-in-law: Peter Joyce in 2001 and sister-in-law: Sheryl Ellinwood in 2015. Cremation is being handled by the Cremation Society of Toledo. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
