James D. Dunbar, 75, of rural Tiffin, formerly of Forest, went home to the Lord on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 28, 1946, in Adrian, Michigan, to the late Delbert and Rosetta (Yedica) Dunbar. On May 24, 1991, he married Marsha DeGoode and she survives. James is also survived by his children Chet S., Richard J. (Michelle), Darla Ham, Heather (Robert) Evans, Nicole (Juan) Andino, and Whitney (Jose) Maldonado. James was blessed with 11 grandchildren: Caleb, Joshua and Isaiah Dunbar; Jessica (Joe Dlubak) and Xavier Ham; Kristen (Adam) Wolf, Kyle and Kolten Evans; Anna (Gabrielle Young) Penwell and Tiffany (Chad) Pever; Lily Maldonado; and 1 great-grandson. He is also survived by his brother Ralph and sister Joyce. James was preceded in death by brothers Delbert, Robert and Jerry and sister Norma. James was a veteran of the United States Army where he served as a combat medic. He was a recipient of the National Defense Service Medal. James was an avid University of Michigan fan. Until his retirement, James was a senior buyer at U.S. Tsubaki in Sandusky, Ohio. He also enjoyed hiking in the Tennessee mountains with his devoted wife Marsha and spending time with his family. A celebration of life is being planned for a later date.
