James P. Davidson, Jr., 77, passed away from this life October 13 at Bridge Hospice in Bowling Green after a long illness. His disability was from many years of Multiple System Atrophy, a form of Parkinsons Disease. His longevity was unusual for this disease and will lead to a study of his brain. He was born April 22, 1934 to James and Lucille Davidson in Detroit where he grew up. He was retired from the faculty of the College of Education at BGSU. He taught there from 1970 until his retirement. He led a versatile life including being a politician (1st Ward Councilman), glass blower, volunteer fireman, electric car race team member and Shared Interest Investment Club member. He graduated from Wayne State University in Detroit before moving to Bowling Green. He also had a passion for tools, machines, camping and traveling even as for north as the Arctic Circle.His marriage to Alice Hughes from Lapeer, Michigan lasted 53 years. She survives along with children Jim (and his wife Tam) Davidson of St. Paul, MN, Stacey Rae Davidson of Rock Hill SC and Jill Elizabeth Davidson of Boston MA, and grandson Charlie Birge.A celebration of life will be held Sunday, November 6 at Simpson Garden Park, 1291 Conneaut Avenue, Bowling Green, Ohio, 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.Flowers cannot be delivered to Simpson Garden Park.
