James R. Bloomfield

James Rulley Bloomfield, 72, passed away peacefully on September 14th, 2026, after a lengthy illness. He is survived by his sisters, Tina (Thomas) Bloomfield, Nancy (John) Lacy, and Molly (Ed) Rosin; wife, Dianna (Sarty) Bloomfield; and his two daughters, Rachel Bloomfield (Noah) and Michelle Pierce, along with four grandchildren, Tawny Hansen (Chris), Codey Pierce, Miette Bloomfield-Wells, and Clementine Bloomfield-Lint. As well as three great-grandchildren, Jaxton Gilbert, Jettison Bonaminio, and Willow Bonaminio, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was born on August 16th, 1954, to Ruth and Rulley Bloomfield. He had five siblings and was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Charles Bloomfield and Richard Bloomfield. Raised in Sandusky, Ohio, James joined the Army and fought in the Vietnam War after high school. After returning home, he settled down in Bellevue, Ohio. He worked at Chemi-Trol in Fremont, Ohio, for many decades, where he made lifelong friends and worked hard as a union welder. He was much loved by his fellow workmates, always giving them a reason to laugh. His easygoing sense of humor made him a source of endless pranks (and at times a victim of them).

Jim was a gifted tinker with an engineer's mind and would take anything apart just to put it back together. He loved fast cars and Harley-Davidsons, especially cruising on his own. He loved rock ' n ' roll, the blues, and "real" country music. He was generous with advice and wise beyond his years. His spirit of fun will be deeply missed. At times, James could also be very serious. He was a reflective thinker who loved deeply and cherished his dearest friends and family members. James's family wishes to thank all the caregivers and special friends who showed support and love during his end-of-life journey. A celebration of life for Jim will take place in the future.
