Clarence “Ike” Cottrell passed into peaceful serenity while resting in his Sylvania Township home on April 5, 2010. Born to Elmer and Cora (Bunting) Cottrell, he was a life member at Adams Conservation Club where he enjoyed his positions as office and chairperson over his 38 year tenure with the organization. Proudly, he was the founder of the MV Chapter of the NWTF. He was also an active member in the Merickel Farley Trout Club, The American Legion Post 468, the MVGC, and the OGCA. An avid outdoorsman, Ike enjoyed spending time with family and friends in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan; hunting, fishing, riding his ATVs and simply observing the peaceful nature of the outdoors. Motorcycles were also a beloved past time of Ikes, once owning a motorcycle shop, and racing both in the amateur and professional arenas.Ike is lovingly survived by his best friend and wife, Cindy, his daughters: Kathy (Scott) Martzke, Sandy (Danny) Douglas, Yvonne Lahey, Colleen (Thomas) Perry, and Lisa Cottrell. Also surviving are his 10 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, 9 step children, 5 step grandchildren, step mother Dorothy Cottrell of Toledo, 2 half brothers: Roger (Linda) Cottrell of Toledo, Ray Fenton of Hudson, Florida and three half sisters: Rose Temple of Sunbury, Pennsylvania, Fern (Roy) Hall of Waldron, Michigan, Barb (Don) Shaffer of Morenci, Michigan. Surviving as well, are several nieces, nephews, and their children. Preceding him in death were his parents Elmer and Cora Cottrell, brother: John Cottrell, sisters: Rayola Ramey and Helen Jones.A memorial luncheon will be held at Adams Conservation Club on Saturday, April 10th, 2010 from 2pm-6pm. The family requests that memorial donations be made to NWTF, Adams CC, or the family. Online condolences may be shared below:
