Ida Alice Lewton

Ida Alice Danahey Lewton, 96, of Toledo, Ohio passed away on December 26, 2017.” She was born on “March 16, 1921 in Pike County, Illinois to John E. and Florence (Hoyt) Danahey. Ida graduated from Blessing Hospital School of Nursing in 1943 and enlisted as a Second Lieutenant in the US Army Nurse Corps.” She served through the New Guinea and Philippine Islands campaigns.” She married James Lewton of Hull, Illinois in 1948 and began her family.” Ida continued her nursing career until she retired her license at the age of 75.” In 2005, she came to Toledo to live with her son.” John would like to thank the wonderful people at Kingston of Sylvania and the Monre Street Methodist Church family, where she was a member. Ida is survived by her son, John. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James; son, James Jr.; brother, Jack Danahey and sister, Mary Margaret Danahey Jones.
